Specialist legal advice surgery for community
South Elmsall residents will once again benefit from specialist legal surgeries offering expert insight and peace of mind on a wide range of issues.
Raleys Solicitors, of Barnsley, is working with Yorkshire Area NUM to organise regular one-to-one advice sessions for the entire local community, including miners past and present as well as their family, friends and neighbours.
Topics for discussion could range from what to do in the event of an accident at home, work or in a car, through to how to make a will or make a compensation claim for exposure to asbestos – whatever questions people want to ask.
“The aim of these sessions is to offer open, honest and straightforward advice on any area of law,” explained solicitor Debra Allen, of Raleys, who is co-ordinating the surgeries. “We want to help as many people as possible, providing a regular service that is of great value to the community. That’s why although we’re organising the surgeries through Yorkshire Area NUM, they are open to all, including non-union members and local residents.”
Debra said: “Many people have turned up to previous events in South Elmsall and we hope to have another good turnout.”
Legal advice surgeries take place on the first Monday of every month at South Elmsall Resource Centre, Westfield Lane, South Elmsall. The Raleys team will next be there on September 7 from 10am – noon. There is no charge for initial consultations and no appointment is necessary.
Local NUM members can contact union rep John Pickin on 01977 644 947 for further information about the surgeries. Debra Allen is available on 01226 603 207 for non-union enquiries.
