Injuries to Victims of Crime

We Can Help!

We will make an application on your behalf to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (“CICA”) to ensure that you receive compensation for the pain that you have suffered.

There is

  • No need for you to attend a trial or daunting court hearings
  • No need for you to face the assailant

It does not even usually matter if the assailant is

  • not identified
  • not caught
  • not charged
  • not convicted

IT IS IMPORTANT however that you report the incident as soon as possible and co-operate fully with police and other authorities.

Our Aim is to keep things clear, simple and hassle free for you so that you can go about the important business of recovering from your injuries leaving us to worry about the legal technicalities and complexities of your case.

How Much Will I Receive?

The level of award is determined by a scale set by parliament. Awards range from £1000 to £500,000 and vary depending on the severity and duration of the injury.

Where injuries are serious and have resulted in significant financial loss, such as loss of earnings, additional compensation can be applied for.

Since 1964 the CICA paid more than £3 billion in compensation.

Here at Raleys we have recovered more than £100,000 for our clients in the last 4 years

Good legal representation can ensure you recover the right amount for your injury.

What Will it Cost Me?

Raleys will usually act on a no win no fee type arrangement called a Contingency Agreement. This mean that our costs are only payable if we recover compensation for you.

If we do not recover any compensation for you then you will pay us nothing, no matter how much work we have done for you.

Time Limits

Generally an application must be made to CICA within 2 years of the crime

Unless

  • you are unable to act for yourself
  • you were under 18 at the time of the assault
  • your injuries were not noticeable immediately

Child abuse cases are an example of those claims where typically the 2 year limitation period would be waived as this type of crime often goes unreported for many years.
