Solicitors In Pontefract

Pontefract is just a short 25 minute drive from our offices, which are located in Barnsley.  The large market town, which is part of the metropolitan borough of the City of Wakefield, has a population approaching 30,000.

As with many of the surrounding towns and cities; sport plays a large part in the social fabric of Pontefract.  There are various cricket, rugby and football teams located in the town, in addition to Europe’s largest flat racecourse.  On the more exotic side there is the xscape complex in Glasshoughton, which is situated between Pontefract and Castleford.  The site contains bars, shops and an indoor ski slope.

The large interest in sports and especially snowboarders and skiers visiting the xscape complex means that sporting injuries are not uncommon.  This of course means that solicitors in Pontefract and the surrounding area can be quite busy, dealing with claims where a client believes a third party is at fault for their injury.

Pontefract is also well known for its drinking culture and renowned for the number of pubs and bars; making it a popular destination for nights out.  Whilst this is great for the economy of the area, the downside is that a lot of drink related incidents do occur.  Violent crimes in the Pontefract area are higher than the national average and many occur when revellers are out enjoying a drink.  Unfortunately this means that solicitors in Pontefract often deal with cases relating to injuries sustained during such incidents.
